This privacy policy set out how CSCS uses and protects any information that is collected through the use of the CSCS Go Smart for Android application.

What is collected and stored on the device?

  • Information that can be read from a CSCS Smartcard including the cardholders initial, surname and photograph.
  • The time and if possible, location of where the card was read.

What information is transmitted to CSCS?

  • No additional information about the card or cardholder is transmitted to CSCS, other than that required for facilitating the synchronisation of the data on the card to the CSCS database.
  • Information about the make and model of Smartphone along with the version of the Android operating system installed is recorded, in order to allow CSCS to target and improve its services.

Can information be transferred from the Smartphone?

  • It is possible for the user of CSCS Go Smart for Android to export the data from card reads to the Smart phone’s SD card. Once data has been exported, it is the responsibility of the user to ensure that it is not used insecurely, inappropriately or illegally. Before capturing data from a CSCS card, you must ensure you have the cardholder’s permission and you must have a suitable registration under relevant Data Protection and other legislation.

How is data protected within CSCS Go Smart for Android?

  • CSCS are committed to ensuring that any data captured is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure the information collected.

How long is data stored within CSCS Go Smart for Android?

  • Data from card reads is stored until deleted by the operator or until CSCS Go Smart for Android is uninstalled from the Smartphone.
